White diamond

White diamond

"A diamond is forever": this iconic slogan from 1947 still contributes to the immense popularity of diamonds in engagement and wedding rings today. It refers to the eternal, unchanging love that a diamond engagement ring symbolises. Celebrities with a stunning diamond engagement ring include Beyoncé, Amal Clooney, Gisele Bündchen, Scarlett Johansson and Kim Kardashian. "Emily in Paris" star Lily Collins also wears a beautiful rose-cut diamond.

The most famous and most precious diamond on earth is the Koh-i-Noor. This phenomenal stone was found in India and has belonged to the British royal family since the 19th century.

Diamond is the hardest material found on earth. It scores 10 on the Mohs scale, which means it cannot be scratched by any other material except another diamond.

Diamonds are graded on four key criteria, the 4 Cs: carat weight, colour, clarity and cut. Together they determine the quality and value of a diamond. The 4 Cs apply to white diamonds. Diamond, however, exists in every colour, the so-called "fancy colours", which are very rare and coveted: yellow, pink, blue and red.
